At Tribal Unicorn Candle Bar, each of our luxury candles is handmade and one-of-a-kind. To ensure you get the best burn and the longest life out of your scented candles, follow our essential candle care tips.
How to Care for Your Candles
-
Use a Heatproof Surface Always place your candle on a heatproof surface, away from flammable objects, and in a safe area.
-
Trim the Wick Before Each Burn Keep your candle wick trimmed to a maximum of 1/4 inch before each burn. This prevents sooty smoke and ensures a clean, even flame. Proper wick trimming also helps your candle last longer.
-
Avoid Draughts Keep your candle away from draughts and vents. Wind can cause uneven burning and flickering flames.
-
Keep the Wax Pool Clean Remove any debris, burnt matches, or large objects from the wax pool to prevent flaring and maintain a smooth burn.
-
Let the Wax Pool Fully Melt During each burn, allow the top layer of wax to fully melt and become a pool of liquid wax. This prevents tunneling and helps your candle burn evenly. We recommend burning for 2–4 hours at a time for optimal results.
-
Know When to Say Goodbye When your candle is 1 cm from the bottom of the jar, it's time to let it go. Burning past this point can cause the glass to overheat. Time to find your next favourite scent from our collection or choose another refill!
Wax Melt Care Guide: Get the Best from Your Scented Wax Melts
Our scented wax melts are perfect for adding fragrance to any space. Follow these tips to get the best experience:
-
Use an Appropriate Wax Melt Burner Always use wax melts in a burner designed for wax melts, not oil burners.
-
Add Wax Melts Gradually Place one piece of the wax melt at a time into your burner. Add more as needed to reach your desired fragrance level.
-
Do Not Overfill Overfilling your burner can lead to spills and messy cleanup.
-
Cool Before Removal Allow the wax to cool and harden before attempting to remove it. To clean, apply gentle force or slightly melt the wax and gently push it out of the burner. Mid burn? Try adding a cotton wool pad to the well to soak up the wax!
-
Dispose of Wax Properly Never pour hot wax down the sink; it can cause blockages. Simply place the hardened wax in the bin.
-
Store in a Cool, Dry Place Keep your wax melts in a cool, dry area to preserve their fragrance and longevity.
-
Avoid over burning tea lights Avoid using tea lights that burn for longer than 3 hour - it may cause your burner to overheat.
-
Remove Wax Safely When it’s time to change your wax, melt it slightly and push out the hard wax using a tissue to scoop it up safely.
⚠️ Safety First: Failure to follow these instructions can result in a fire hazard. Always burn responsibly.
